It’s likely that you’ve heard something at this point about Marie Kondo and her book The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up. Kondo’s book and KonMari method of decluttering and simplifying your home have been shared across the internet.
Her book was the first that I read on the subject of deep decluttering and lead me to my interest in minimalism. Her Life-Changing Magic book was a huge inspiration for me. I also enjoyed her second book, Spark Joy. This book went a bit deeper into specifics of the decluttering process as well as her folding methods.
Kondo’s newest book, The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up, takes the concept to a whole new level: Graphic Novel! When I first heard about this book I was quite curious what it would be about. How can manga really teach about decluttering?
But I loved the story. It was a fun, quick way to read about the KonMari method of decluttering & tidying. The book takes you through the process of tidying Chiaki’s apartment. Kondo takes her step by step through the process, including choosing what to keep by seeing what sparks joy, and her perfect method of folding to keep things neat & organized. It was a quick read; I went through the whole thing in one evening.
And seriously, how cute is this?
If you love Marie Kondo’s work you should definitely check it out. Or if you are not much of a reader but have wondered what her process is all about, this is a great way to find out.
